We are currently doing a bunch of work with Osoeco… it has been an exciting project. Osoeco will be an online shopping and community portal where you can find all things sustainable…. the shopping and robust community portal will be launching in winter of 2007, but right now they have a “buzz” site that has some community stuff (like a bulletin board for connecting with others), some information about what the site will be offering, as well as the ability to give your own feedback about what you’d like to see the site become.

We have been spending A LOT of time with Osoeco since December… we worked with them to come up with their name; we created their logo, letterhead, their current site, and if we don’t maim or kill each other, we’re working with them to create what will be their shopping/community portal (not that we maim or kill many of our clients, or vice-versa. BUT one of the founders of Osoeco happens to be my life-partner, and the other one happens to be a good friend).

We were at a meeting just last week with Osoeco and Intechgra (the folks who are working on the back-end) and Caroline at Osoeco brought in a mock-up that she had created of some of the elements she sees as being on the shopping portal.

As she presented it she did ask that none of us laugh, and she did tell us that she had spent over three hours on it. This is the kind of thing that let’s me feel superior. And believe me, I need to take advantage of this where I can find it.

mock upLet’s critique it, shall we? First of all, Caroline really paid attention to the details on this one. Look at how she matched the color of the logo with the color of the main menu at the top. She’s matched the green of some of the text and buttons with the logo as well. Nicely done, Caroline. She’s also used orange as an accent color that goes nicely. And, she has done a nice job of not going crazy with fonts… she has pretty much stuck with Arial and just used bold or drop shadows….

Caroline, you’ve really raised the bar for us. I just don’t know how we are going to surpass what you’ve done here. We’re actually looking to expand into Me and Her and Someone Else Designs, and, perhaps you’d be interested?….
